INTENTIONAL

During my own personal board meeting recently, I reflected on 2024 and started looking forward to 2025.

This year, I’ve embraced being INTENTIONAL as my guiding word for the year.

But what does intentional really mean?

To be intentional is to live with purpose, to act with focus and clarity.

It’s about choosing what matters, aligning decisions with values, and making deliberate steps toward the future you want to create. It’s not just about setting goals…it’s about making every action meaningful, understanding why you’re doing what you’re doing, and being fully present in the process.

With this in mind, here are some ways I’ve embodied intentionality this year:

1. I wrote with purpose – My posts and articles on LinkedIn are written with the aim of inspiring and challenging others to reflect, grow, and embrace leadership. To be better. To do better. Find them at #learngrowteachrepeat #theweekthatwas #thoughts #awordfromgrant
2. I championed leadership – In my role as a Fractional Leader, I’ve intentionally guided leaders to think beyond the ordinary, focusing on strategy, growth, and empowerment to build stronger, more resilient businesses.
3. I encouraged reflection – I intentionally create space for others to reflect and take responsibility for their actions, offering practical tools to move past regrets and focus on what truly matters.
4. I fostered relationships – By sharing my experiences and insights, I’ve intentionally found communities of like-minded individuals who engage, share, and learn together.
5. I live my values – My mantra of “Be real. Be brave. Be inspiring. Be kind. Always”, isn’t just a catchphrase…it’s a deliberate approach to living authentically and leading with integrity.

Was it a perfect year… Nope.

Could I be better… Yup.

Am I a happy guy… Mostly.

Am I grateful… Absolutely.

As I look ahead to 2025, my word for the year is still to be decided, but I’m excited about the journey ahead. Perhaps it’ll be elevate, focus, or legacy…words that will continue the momentum of this year’s intentionality.
