THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO BE USEFUL

At its core, this means making a positive difference in the lives of others, contributing to something greater than ourselves, and leaving behind a legacy of value.

When us folk shift our focus from “What’s in it for me?” to “How can I serve?” we begin to align with a deeper sense of purpose.

Being useful manifests in countless ways and here are a few I apply:

  • Offering help, whether it’s a listening ear, expert advice, or a hand when someone is struggling, shows that your contribution doesn’t need to be grand to be meaningful.
  • Elevating others by providing encouragement, mentoring, or creating opportunities for others to shine can make a world of difference, no matter how small the gesture.
  • Creating solutions by solving problems, whether big or small, helps move things forward and can lead to positive progress for those who need it.
  • Leading by example means demonstrating the values you hold dear and inspiring those around you to live by them as well, making your actions speak louder than words.
  • Staying consistent by showing up every day with dedication, care, and effort builds trust and reliability, creating a foundation of dependability for others.

This mindset isn’t just about solving problems… It’s about showing up consistently, authentically, and with intention.

It’s about being a source of strength, guidance, and support, even when it’s not asked of us.

With a little reflection, ask yourself:

  • How can I add value today?
  • What impact do I want to have on others?
  • How can I contribute to the success of my team or community?
  • In what ways can I support or uplift those around me?
  • What is one small action I can take to make a difference?
  • How can I lead by example in this moment?
  • Where can I make the greatest impact with the skills I have?
  • How can I be of service to someone else today?
  • What can I do to inspire or motivate others?
  • What’s the most meaningful way I can show up today?

Every one of these actions can lead to a positive change, so let’s focus on being useful…and inspire others to do the same.
