LEGACY VS. EVOLUTION: MASTERING THE ART OF CHANGE

Change can be overwhelming. Hard. Uncertain. Uncomfortable. But necessary. It can be so much easier to just keep the status quo. But what fun would that be?

I often find that founders and their leadership hold on to what worked.

And their teams?

They often fear what’s next, especially when they don’t feel ready and are stuck between legacy and evolution.

Not a great place to be TBH.

The truth is that the past isn’t holding us back…it’s what got us here. Here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Sometimes, you need to be the father. Be wise, Be experienced. Be insightful.
  • Other times, be the son. Be curious, Be practical. Be ready to learn.
  • And on most days? Try be the (red) Bic pen. Be practical. Be intentional. Be useful.

Real change doesn’t ask you to pick one role, it asks you to know which one to be…and when.
