HAVE YOU EATEN YOUR OWN DOG FOOD LATELY?

Ever heard of the term “Eat your own dog food”?

In short…

As a business owner, you need to learn that if you want your team to truly believe in what you’re offering, you have to “eat your own dog food.”

This means making the effort, and finding the time, to use your own products or services to evaluate and improve your internal processes.

Here are a few simple but effective suggestions you can implement immediately:

  • Act as a mystery shopper – purchase your own product, return an item, and see how smooth the process is from start to finish.
  • Engage with your customer service team on product queries to experience first-hand how well they handle issues.
  • Call your office landline to test the response time, professionalism, and whether the voicemail system aligns with the brand experience you’re aiming for.
  • Use your own product or service – book a meeting through your platform, make a purchase, or navigate your website – so you can identify any pain points yourself.
  • Join internal product demos and training sessions to assess how well your team understands and communicates the product’s value.
  • Test internal communication channels – send messages and see how quickly they’re acknowledged, and how helpful the responses are.

Where the taste wasn’t so great, execute the necessary.
