YOU’RE NEVER WRONG TO DO THE RIGHT THING

“You’re never WRONG to do the RIGHT thing”.

I must say this to at least one person every week.

Making ethical decisions is always the right path, even when it’s not the easiest, and as a fractional leader, I’ve seen first hand how doing the right thing, even when it’s difficult, can have a profound impact on business outcomes.

My approach:

  • I always prioritise integrity, even when it’s not the easiest path. Wait until you need to recall a product…Never the convenient choice, but always the right one.
  • I believe in being transparent with my clients, even if the news isn’t what they want to hear. No time for sugar-coating when advising a CEO that their preferred strategy is flawed.
  • Sometimes doing the right thing means advocating for your team when they can’t advocate for themselves. Helps to also believe IN them as well as FOR them.
  • Owning up to errors can be tough, but it’s the right thing to do. I’ve made my fair share, and the ones that I owned ultimately earned the respect of the leadership team for my accountability.
  • Putting long-term value over short-term gains is one of my my most difficult counsels. Recently we made a call to rather not cut corners when chasing our revenue targets and to rather focus on consistent sustainable growth.

Doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but it’s always the right choice.
